The summer season is the most beautiful yet hottest season on Earth. It lasts for around 3-4 months in India. It starts in March after the Holi festival till June 21st or Summer Solstice. Schools across the plains are closed due to the excess temperature. Hot waves move in different places. People in the streets sell ice creams, kids enjoy the cool juice and other cold drinks. In India, the summer season brings holidays too. These holidays are called Summer vacations. People travel to various places for enjoying their summer break. In India, most people visit the places like Sikkim, Darjeeling, Manali, and other hilly areas because they remain cool. Below is a small video on how the summer season happens.
How does Summer Season happen?
The Summer Season is a result of facing the sun directly at such an angle that there is high insolation. It causes some of the places on the earth to receive a high amount of heat. It is a natural process based on the rotation and revolution of the Earth. In Summer Season the days are longer. June 21st is said to the longest day which receives maximum insolation from the sun. It is also called Summer solstice Eventually, after June 21st each year, there is a reduction in the day hours.
In the Summer Season, the plants also get a proper amount of sunlight which helps them to grow better. It is because sunlight is the most essential factor in Plant’s growth. In Summer Season, our farmers prepare their lands for agriculture.
What are the Effects of Summer Season?
As we discussed, summer is the hottest season of the year. There are many man-made factors also that contribute to hot summers. The first and major one is Global Warming. Due to the excess carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, there is more trapping of heat causing the earth to become hotter.
The heat causes loss of the water from the body. Dehydration increases, we need to keep a healthy glucose drink with us to avoid dehydration. There is also the need for drinking more and more water.
Wetlands get dried up because of the heat. However, the heated water forms vapor that goes to the atmosphere through Evaporation. It comes back to the Earth through the process of condensation and precipitation. This is called the water cycle and one of the natural processes of the Earth Ecosystem.
How to Enjoy our Summer Vacation?
Summer vacation brings long holidays for the kids. They often visit the ground during day hours to enjoy their favorite sports. In my case my personal favorite game is cricket. I enjoy a lot while playing cricket in the summer break.
The hill stations like Manali, Shimla, Sikkim, and Darjeeling have full of snow. We can visit these hill stations and live our life to the fullest. Ice creams and cold drinks can be enjoyed in hot summers.
