Essay on Swami Vivekananda in 2021

Swami Vivekananda was born Narendranath Dutta on 12th January 1863 at then Calcutta. He was one of the reformers of Hinduism. His birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day in India. He was also a philosopher who truly understood the Vedanta. He was a disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa. His whole life was dedicated to sharing the greatest of the knowledge given by ancient Indian Philosophers.

Swami Vivekananda was born in the house of Shri Vishwanath and Bhuvneshwari Devi. He was known by the name “Narendranath Dutta” in his early days. He had great intellectual abilities since his childhood itself. He had a great listening and questioning ability. He had many talents and skills. Vivekananda was also a good swimmer and was interested in wrestling. Later on, he was inspired by the Indian epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata.

He was mystical in nature. Narendra’s family was holy and spiritual but he was more rational and had great judgment skills. He even questioned the existence of God. Narendra uses to visit every saint which he could meet. He asked them whether they had seen god or not? However, luckily he meets Ramakrishna Paramhamsha who also in turn wanted to make his disciple.

Meeting with Ramkrishna Paramhansa.

Swami Vivekananda guru Ramakrishna Paramhamsha wanted to make hin his disciple. He knew about his qualities and though that he is a boon for the society. Paramhamsha recognized him is every aspect. Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramhamsha met first at friends residence. Later on he was called to Dakshineshwar Temple where the young Narendra understood the true purpose of human existence. He understood that why the Yoga was needed in order to understand the essence of existence. He was then initiated by Ramakrishna Paramhamsha.

In Parliament of the World’s Religions in 1893 at Chicago, Swami Vivekananda won the hearts of millions of people by his wonderful speech at by addressing the audience as “Sisters and Brothers of America”

He said I am proud to belong to a religion that has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal tolerance but we accept all religions as true.” Thus, he set forward the worth of Indian religion exhibiting the values of universal acceptance, oneness, and harmony despite multiplicity in cultures.

One of his famous quotations was “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached.” His main focus was to make humanity reach the new heights of spirituality. He established Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission to show his sincerity towards his Guru. He also established a place of spiritual eminence named Belur Math.

There is no doubt that he was an enlightened master. He left the heavenly abode at a young age but he remained immortal in the hearts of millions.

Conclusion

Swami Vivekananda gave a strong message of unity and peace to the world. He also made sure that the true eminence of Yoga reaches each and every part of the Globe. He had the highest ideals and virtues which made him a nationalist also. In his memory, 12th January is celebrated as National Youth Day in India.
