Using ICT to solve the Crisis, the story of a senior teacher from Rajasthan

The Generation Gap.

There has been a Generation leap for teachers appointed early and newer ones. It is because of the advancing technology in a rapid manner. The specialization in various subject areas has led to more focus on a particular subject rather than the technological ways. However, Rohitash Kumar Bharia from Mandawa, Rajasthan has greatly used the technology to make students learn through the online mode in the time of Pandemic too. He is currently working as a Program Officer in the office of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Along with it, he has 15 years of teaching experience in the following schools. Govt. Senior Secondary School, Sehikala, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sonasar, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Hasera, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sagada. He is one of the most liked teachers by the students in the State.

Early Days.

He was born to a middle-class family with three elder brothers, where all of his brothers are involved in the teaching profession. He did his early schooling from Government Primary School, Khalasi followed by higher education at Seth Chamadiya College, Fatehpur. He completed his post-graduation from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. Since then from 2005 onwards he is involved in teaching. His first appointment was a senior Science teacher at Government Sr. Sec. School, Sigada



Rohitash has great accomplishments in the digital content creation for students. He has been felicitated by the Chief Minister as the best content creator during a Digifest ceremony. He says “The kids are always interested in technology, the content created by utilizing the techniques of Information and communication Technology helps them to stick into the class with dedication and great interest, further this helps them in long term retention.  He further adds “In present times in the level of intellect, due to the pressure of larger content in the books, it is necessary to apply information and communication technology for students, it makes them understand quickly, also the class becomes more interesting”

The Difficulties.

There are always difficulties involved however as stated by William Arthur Ward, “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires”. He believes in demonstration and inspiration rather than other stuffs, so with patience, he waited till all the equipment came to his reach and made it great with the technology provided. He used the Video Clips, PowerPoint presentations along with interactive materials, used blender in creating Animation and the Flash.


However, for a teacher there might come various other difficulties, one of which is, selecting the content from the vast internet, he says “ For a teacher, it is really not tough to understand which content is good for students, so it is altogether easy for a teacher dedicated to nurturing a student” He has been an inspiration for many students, some of his students have been able to crack the toughest entrance examination of India like that of IITs and Medicals. Some of his students even hold high administrative ranks in various places.

 His Suggestions.

During the time of Pandemic, education is reaching to the homes of students. It is a fact that in the future this shall continue. In this way, technology helps to reach out to various places and certainly, there is a need for upgradations. He says “ In the teaching fraternity, the teachers having keen interest must be identified so that they can help other teachers in creating the better content for students”

. He further suggests to his fellow teachers that “ Every teacher must try to have some time after the school to create digital contents for students because it helps them grasp quickly rather than the other methods that are why Information and Communication Technology helps”

In the final line he adds “ I keep on learning new software through YouTube to improve my skills, this is truly beneficial for me”. He aims to develop a district-level studio to help his fellow teachers in creating the best content for the students. Listen to Rohitash, what he has to say about his journey.
